Air Monitoring Record — Post-Removal
The Air Monitoring Record documents fibre concentration levels measured during and after asbestos removal works. It must be carried out by an independent UKAS-accredited analyst to verify that airborne asbestos fibre levels are below the clearance indicator of 0.01 fibres/ml. These records form a critical part of the four-stage clearance process before an area is reoccupied.

Asbestos Awareness Declaration
The Asbestos Awareness Declaration confirms that all workers on site have received asbestos awareness training and understand the risks, types of ACMs they may encounter, and the emergency procedure if asbestos is suspected. It records individual sign-offs and training dates. Asbestos awareness is mandatory for anyone whose work could foreseeably disturb ACMs.

Asbestos Management Plan
The Asbestos Management Plan sets out how asbestos-containing materials will be managed in situ, including monitoring schedules, access restrictions, labelling, and procedures for planned and emergency work. It is based on the asbestos register and survey findings. The plan must be reviewed regularly and updated whenever ACMs are removed, damaged, or re-assessed.

Asbestos Management Survey Report
The Asbestos Management Survey identifies the presence, location, and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in a building during normal occupation. It provides the information needed to manage ACMs in situ and must be carried out by a UKAS-accredited surveyor. The survey informs the asbestos register and management plan for the premises.

Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Survey
The Refurbishment and Demolition Survey is required before any intrusive or destructive work in a building. It is more invasive than a management survey, accessing areas behind walls, above ceilings, and within floor voids. The survey must locate all ACMs in the area of work so they can be removed before construction begins.

Asbestos Register
The Asbestos Register is a live document recording the location, type, condition, and risk rating of all known asbestos-containing materials in a building. It must be made available to anyone planning or carrying out work that might disturb ACMs. The register is updated following surveys, re-inspections, removal works, or any change in ACM condition.

Asbestos Removal Plan
The Asbestos Removal Plan details the methodology for safely removing asbestos-containing materials, including enclosure design, negative pressure units, decontamination facilities, waste routes, and air monitoring arrangements. Licensed removal work requires a 14-day notification to HSE. The plan must be prepared by a licensed asbestos removal contractor and agreed before work starts.

Four-Stage Clearance Certificate
The Four-Stage Clearance Certificate confirms that an area is safe for reoccupation following licensed asbestos removal. The four stages are: visual inspection within the enclosure, air monitoring, a second visual inspection after dismantling the enclosure, and a final air test. Only a UKAS-accredited analyst can issue clearance, and the certificate must be retained as a permanent record.
