COSHH Assessment — Adhesives and Resins
This COSHH assessment covers epoxy resins, polyurethane adhesives, contact adhesives, and other bonding agents used in construction. It addresses skin sensitisation, respiratory irritation from isocyanates, and the risk of occupational asthma. Two-part resin systems require specific mixing controls and adequate cure-time ventilation.

COSHH Assessment — Lead at Work (General)
A COSHH assessment for lead exposure beyond decorative paint, covering lead sheet roofing, flashings, soldering, bossing, lead pipework, lead-primed structural steel, and demolition. WEL 0.15 mg/m³ inhalable dust and fume. Hot lead work (soldering, bossing, burning) generates fume requiring supplied air RPE, not just FFP3. Blood lead monitoring required under CLAW 2002 where significant exposure occurs. Suspension levels: 60 µg/dL males, 30 µg/dL females.

COSHH Assessment — Lead Paint
This COSHH assessment covers the risks of disturbing lead-based paint during refurbishment, strip-out, or maintenance of pre-1970s buildings. Lead exposure causes neurological damage, kidney disease, and reproductive harm. Controls include wet removal methods, HEPA-filtered extraction, blood lead monitoring, and specialist waste disposal as hazardous waste.

COSHH Assessment — Legionella
This COSHH assessment covers legionella risks from water systems on construction sites and in newly completed buildings. Stagnant water in temporary supplies, dead legs, and cooling towers can harbour Legionella pneumophila bacteria. It requires written schemes of control, temperature monitoring, regular flushing regimes, and competent water treatment management.

COSHH Assessment — Mould and Biological Agents
This COSHH assessment covers exposure to mould, fungi, bacteria, and other biological agents encountered during refurbishment, demolition, or work in damp buildings. It addresses respiratory sensitisation, allergic reactions, and infection risks. Control measures include RPE, containment, specialist cleaning, and appropriate waste disposal procedures.

COSHH Assessment — Paints and Solvents
This COSHH assessment addresses health risks from paints, varnishes, stains, thinners, and solvents used in construction. It covers inhalation of volatile organic compounds, skin absorption, and flammability risks. Substitution with water-based products should be considered first, with adequate ventilation and respiratory protection provided where solvent-based products are necessary.

COSHH Assessment — Silica Dust
This COSHH assessment addresses respirable crystalline silica (RCS) dust generated by cutting, drilling, and grinding concrete, stone, brick, and morite. Silica exposure can cause silicosis, lung cancer, and COPD. The workplace exposure limit is 0.1 mg/m3 and control measures must include water suppression, on-tool extraction, and RPE where limits may be exceeded.

COSHH Assessment — Welding Fumes
This COSHH assessment addresses welding fume exposure which the HSE reclassified as a carcinogen in 2019. All welding fumes, including mild steel, now require engineering controls such as LEV or on-torch extraction. It covers MIG, TIG, MMA, and oxy-fuel processes, and addresses manganese, chromium, and nickel fume components.

COSHH Assessment — Wood Dust
This COSHH assessment covers wood dust exposure from cutting, sanding, routing, and planing timber. Hardwood dust is a known carcinogen and softwood dust causes respiratory sensitisation. The workplace exposure limit for wood dust is 3 mg/m3 (hardwood) and 5 mg/m3 (softwood). On-tool extraction and LEV systems are the primary control measures.

Safety Data Sheet Register
The Safety Data Sheet Register collects and organises manufacturer safety data sheets (SDS) for every hazardous substance used on site. SDS documents provide critical information on hazards, first aid measures, handling precautions, PPE requirements, and emergency spill procedures. The register must be accessible to all workers and kept current with the substance inventory.

Substance Inventory and Hazmat Register
The Substance Inventory and Hazmat Register is a live record of all hazardous substances brought onto site, their locations, quantities, and associated safety data sheets. It enables emergency responders to identify hazards quickly and ensures all substances have been assessed under COSHH before use. The register must be updated whenever new substances arrive on site.
